Hey,

Yes, I'm still working on my valve preamp design for my amp...

So, here's another question for yall...

I was looking over a few schematics from marshall preamps and also the hotbox, and they have more gain stages (more tubes) that can be switched in to be used as a distortion channel.

I'f I'm using this circuit for my preamp, how would I add something similar, to give me more grunt?

Would I simply put another one of those preamps after the first one to act as a further gain stage, with a switch to switch it in and out? If so, anyone got a good remote schematic I can use for this?

EDIT: And how would I remove the tone stack from that preamp? As I wouldn't want it in the second 'distortion' preamp as well...

To bypass the tone stack do I just connect the left hand pin of the master pot to the right hand side of that 33k resistor (above the 3 caps - 500, .022 and .022)? I'm guessing the tone stack just works by shifting the ratio of signal between 2 capacitor values (i.e. the treble pot moves between the 500 and the 0.022).

So if I cut out those caps and just connect the left most lug of the master pot straight to the 33k resistor, that will remove it?
