i bought one of these last night and did the mods to solve the volume drop, then the one to add a little high end, then i sped it up a ton, now its a great sounding pedal.  i was wondering though, i have heard people say that a modded pulsar can do almost ring mod type sounds.  would i be able to coax these out of the tr-2?

I don't know where they are on the board, but a posted schem shows two back-to-back (or is that nose-to-nose?) 1uf electrolytic caps labelled C20 and C21 as the range-setting caps of the LFO on the TR-2.  Combined, they make a NP .5uf cap.

The owner's manual ( http://lib.roland.co.jp/manual/en/dl_06-09992/TR-2_e4.pdf ) states that the LFO  rate is 90-900ms. Ninety msec translates into just over 11hz and 900msec just over 1hz.  If you subbed a .15 NP cap for those two, you would be able to achieve modulation rates in the bottom of the audio range (between 20 and 40hz) which would be enough to get you some "rubber band" sounds.  It is possible to get higher modulation rates with smaller caps, but this value will still let you get medium-fast throb at the bottom of the rate control's range without having to install toggles, etc..

excellent.  to achieve the speed i have so far i have just been switching out a resistor (cant recall which one off the top of my head)
