Hey all,

I am somewhat of a beginner, but i would like to try my hand at building the Rodent project from GGG.  I started to go down the parts list to purchase them from Small Bear, but i got hung up on a few parts, and wanted to know what i should use.

First - I can't find audio taper 100K potentiometers at small bear - any idea where to get these, or if i can swap out a different pot for this one?

Second - what type of capacitors should i use (poly, silver...i have no idea of what the differences are).

Anyone build one of these before?  Anything i need to know before hand?

These are the ones at small bear in their stocklist.  you select the value from the drop down menu.

As far as caps go, a lot of people will have a lot of opinions.  The poly ones at small bear are good.

I can't remember what the deal was with the rodent.  I thought it had issues.  I did the tonepad version twice perfect.  I never did get the GGG one going.  Do a search for rodent.

I experimented recently with a Rodent that JD lent me so that I could check out a load of LM308N ICs. A lot "punch", distinctive funky tonalities from the filter, and a wide range of gnarly distortions! If I ever get time to build a little, that pedal is definitely on the list. It is more complex than I would normally recommend for a first build, but OK if you are using a board that JD or FP has made for you. Don't attempt to make your own board for a first build; that's a sure route to frustration!

ECQ-B poly film caps are fine for values 100 pf. upward, silver mica for anything under. Avoid the higher voltage caps for this build; they won't fit on the board.
