I haven't seen this in anyones pictures and I don't believe I've seen it in the Mouser catalog.
I thought I'd post some pics. I guess more folks don't use it because it sticks
out farther than the one that mounts from the outside. But it takes up less space on the inside by 4.5mm

Once it took me 15min to get the nut to screw on straight on one of those
jacks that mount from the outside using needle nose pliers on a tight build. :icon_evil:
Its nice to have options.

Both types

Yeah, sticks out far, but I plan to add washers on the inside.

And for comparison...

i know that smallbear carries the one that has the nut on the inside.  id' prefer the other way (to be able to wire it before mounting).  where did you get the one that has the nut on the outside?

YEAH I WANT SOME

I hate having to solder/desolder my power supply every time im taking the board in/out of an enclosure.
this way it can all stay together.

where can i get some?

GOOD FIND!

I got them at my LES (local electronic store). A very reputable place here in Vancouver BC and they have net sales too.

I don't see this jack on their website. I got their part number for this "mount from the outside" DC jack from my receipt.
31-134-2

But I think it comes from MODE electronics, at least that who distributes them in CND.
Note that the two jacks pictured use the same 1/2" hole size. They also have a 2.5mm version but you don't want that one :icon_rolleyes:
How many times have you soldered on the DC jack and forgot to slip the nut over the wires first. I seem to do it every build. Not any more. ;D

Better?
Its the same jack, and those thread links are all about a Tiawan supplier. The "offical" DC jack thread posted by Fret Wire is now dead so I would not recommend anyone read those links looking for a supplier. There are however some wicked build pics from wizzard if you do.

Anyway, in another different thread someone mentioned the jacks can also be had at

Also in that same thread Fret Wire had this to add about the nut on the outside.

You have to be careful with them. The nut will do a number on your paint job. When RDV posted pics of his box with them, you could see the scratches they left. I'm sitting on 1000 of those that I haven't put up for sale yet, because I'd rather not sell them until I can find suitable washers to include with them. So, if you value your paintjob, get a washer before you use them. They are a nice jack however. It's great to be able to solder them up before they're in the enclosure. Plus, no de-soldering to remove the ckt from the box at a later date.
