Is this an LM741 op amp?

A guy at work has a few to give me and I was wondering if they worked the same.

Sure, if it says  xyz 741   it is. Thats a metal can package...extra mojo...

metal can style... but a normal dip 8 socket might be a pain...  you might have to do a different pcb layout but the pins do the same thing

I have few of those metal can 741's also. I didn't find it hard to fit it in a norman 8-pin dip-socket. Just checked the pinout from the datasheet.
Works wery well, in Dist+ or other equivalents, of course with that "extra mojo" of the metal can.

True. Get a piece of perf and you can put the leads where they should go, then kind of shove it down and you can get it to fit a socket like a glove.

I have an old 4558 in a can rattling around here somewhere. Looking for a mojo project for that little guy...
