I was just wondering; everyone says it beats the ((*^&(* out of the reissue versions.... What is inside one? Anybody made a schematic yet??

I already know it uses 4148 diodes and 2N5962's for trannies

The thread could have simply started with the comment that "For the current issue Little Big Muff, E-H decided to switch 2N5962 transistors" and that would have been enough.  Over the years, E-H has changed the trannies in the BMP several times.  This year's fashion is, once again, a different one.  Le plus ça change.....

And all I can say is "Huzzah!  At last I have a use for the four 2N5962s I bought two years ago when I misremembered the part number of the  FETs in the Phase 90". :icon_lol:

Ay! Will we see the schem or not?  :icon_confused:

Look at the schem for the Little Big Muff ( http://www.montagar.com/~patj/lbgmuff.gif ) posted many moons ago, using the Schematics link above.  Now assume all the transistors are 2N5962, and all the diodes are 1N4148.  That's it.

Untangling the geneology of who made what fuzz at that time is a bit like trying to understand the geneology of the most absolutely outrageous Ozark stereotype you can imagine.  I'm reminded of the gimmick song "I'm my own grandpa" ( http://www3.clearlight.com/~acsa/introjs.htm?/~acsa/songfile/I2MMYOWN.HTM )

On a more practical note, builders or owners of either a BMP or LBM are encouraged to install a toggle to disable the diode-pair/cap network in the first clipping stage to get themselves a a Jumbo Tonebender for the price of a toggle.  The Jumbo lacks the gain recovery stage after the tone control that the BMP has, but that stage is not intended to alter the BMP's tone at all, merely raise the level.  So, in principal, you'll have a potentially louder Jumbo when the toggle is installed.

uhh.... oh yeah.... (Now why did I build a separate Jumbo Tone Bender)?????

Thanks Mark! ;D

maybe I`ve just misinterpreted these recent lines by a current moderator of this forum:

The new one that was posted had different values in the tone stack.   :icon_cool:

I'm getting mine next week. I'll take some pictures and only if aron approves, post them.
The parts are surface mount. My supplier opened one up to take a look already.

Tone stack is the same as the NYC reissue BMP; pics are already posted in the Lounge forum
