I'm gonna bump this up to the top.
Any input from the more experienced members here is more than welcome ;)
I'd like to just see if I did okay with this one as it's my most complicated layout so far.
I'd also like to thank newbie builder for his help and for reminding me about this circuit.
The schem has been in my computer for a few months on the to-do list!!
Thanks guys,

One thing I noticed is that if you look from left to right, the volume and fuzz pots go to connections in a way that you'd connect the 3rd lug to the far right, middle lug in the middle, and 1st lug to the far left of their three spots. However, on the treble control the 1st lug is connected to the far left, middle the middle, and 3rd the far right. I hope that makes sense, but what I'm getting at is that two pots are set up differently than the third. Not at all a big deal though- it's pretty easy to switch which wire you connect.

I'm not sure but, I think that's how it is on the schem.
But, you're right.....maybe just flip-flopping some of the pot connections.
I'm going to try building it tonight and will post results ASAP.

Awsome! Sound clips if possible because I know the clips that were recorded on the other website were just the Folk Fuzz, not 3,5% which, according to BJ, is a bit better sounding and more versatile. Hope you like it! I'm still waiting on about $400 in parts so I have nothing to build with yet......:(

I'm gonna bump this so and ask IS IT WORKING!?? If not, hopefully somebody who is a layout pro *cough cough Dragonfly cough cough* could take a look and help out!
Thanks--

Built it.
Finished populating the board.
Doesn't fire.
MAN, I hate when this happens  :icon_mad:

Noise in bypass i'm guessing, just not when it's clicked in? LED working? I'll take a look at the layout again but we need some of the pro guys to look at this thread because I am what my name is....a newbie :icon_redface:

Nope.
No signal.
I have just an in out jack and the pots hooked up + the battery.
I'm gonna play around with it some more 'cause, I feel it maybe something very simple.....like me  :D
We'll see.

I reworked this one today.
Anyone care to check it for me??

petemoore

Perf populated,...I'm about to go see if this thing is going to fire up...BRB !!!

Built...I didn't add the 'extra' 2.5 [tone knob] yet, just 1 Folk Fuzz.
I made the collector resistors 2.2k + 10kL pot, variable between 2k2 and 12k2, gain was increasing @ 12k2, I could have used 4k7 stop resistors on my trimpots that measured about 9k...but I like the less gritty setting of probably ~10k, I didn't measure.
Nice Folks should like this Fuzz.
I tried out some NPNGE's I bought from the store here, and they added a nice different touch, HF dropped a bit...I had tried first a BC109C in Q1, so Ge in Q1 and the 109 in Q2 for now...
Of course I was havin' a good time 'testamping' on it, I have a box waiting already, yet to try this one out on the bigger amp...
Thanks to Bjorn Jhuls Sida and everyone who has piqued interest in the Folk Fuzzes !!!

Pete,
Did you build yours from my layout?
THIS layout??
I'm building this one tonight with results to follow.

petemoore

Nope...just perf/socketted it, sockets for Q's and input cap, I used a 2u2 output cap cuz it wuz there...
I gota three knob box that's had other circuits in it, I'm about to box it in there and test it out more !

 ;D
Just wanted to le y'all know that this layout is VERIFIED and working.
A copy of it will be in my layouts section + you can see it at banicka's site;

Thanks everybody and please, if you build it, let us know here what ya think :)

Torchy

An alternative to pcb ...

markm

Nice Job Torchy!!
Thanks very much  :)

newbie builder

Yeah thats great torchy! I didn't wanna make a PCB so I was gonna perf MarkM's layout, but now I might just make it vero! Of course aron's store is the only place I know to get vero and I'm out so that might take a while....I guess I'll justt have to build one off each layout!

I got every parts easily, except for the transistors: I ordered several different types but the less gain I have is 150 hFE.
I'm gonna breadboard it first and see if it needs to be biased, or see if I really need to get 100hFE transistors.

try 2N3903 transistors...they are typically in the 90-140 range

Dragonfly

here an alternate layout  that "should" be correct, but still needs checked...
