hi...

i would like to find an enclosure that measures roughly 8x3x2 (lxwxh) to use for a bypass strip.  the hammond 1411wu on pedalpartsplus is exactly what i'm looking for but too long (12").  i've searched this forum and i've read R.G's article on steel stud enclosures but they are too deep (width) for what i'm doing.  i've searched every manufacturer's site i could think of but no luck.  short of having a metal shop custom make one for me, is there any other place i could check out?   ??? thanks a lot!

hey thanks for the suggestion...

normally that would work great for a bypass strip but i think i'm going to need something a bit deeper though as i'm going to need room for two rows of jacks on the back.  it's just a hair to shallow to fit two jacks on top of eachother (but oh so close!).  thanks for the reply though and taking the time to check it out, i appreciate it :)

Search on "project box" on ebay. Alot of times you can get stuff cheap cheap that goes for big bucks. I bought like 20 boxes last week to put pedals in. Great stuff. -ph

nothing really fits what i'm going for on ebay :-\ ... i'd like to have a way to get more in the future if need be, so that if i someday would make more than one i could have them look exactly the same.  so i'm looking for someone with a steady supply.  thanks though!  i appreciate the help...

If you go to ebay and search "custom tube chassis" (or similar) you'll come across a guy named rkwork.  He's a really nice guy who has custom guitar amp chassis for me.  I doubt he would charge much for what your describing.  He'll even do holes and square cut outs.  Email him a drawing or description.

If you use the enclosed Switchcrafts you can get two rows within a 1.72" high dimension.

have you looked at steal beams?  There's an article here about making boxes out of those.

yeah i read the article by R.G. on GEOFX about how to make an enclosure from a steel studs, i think this is what you're talking about... like someone else on a thread about this said, the gauge that home depot had was too flimsy to be stomping on.  it was also too narrow and too shallow... at 8 feet the length was fine though  :icon_wink:  i'm sure that as R.G. said you could order thicker gauges, but if that is the case i'd rather order something that is already made.

thanks for the help... any more suggestions are definitely welcome!
