hey folkz, long time no post. hope all is well w/ everyone.

anyhoo, i picked up a DOD FX50 Overdrive Preamp today, and it came w/ a TL022 opamp. did a quick forum search, and i'm guessing it's not necessarily the best chip for this application. i'm considering dropping in a 741, like the old gray box OD250s had. sound like a plan?

thanks in advance for your insight!

ok, i'm guessing the 741 and the TL022s have different pinouts, cuz the 741 didn't work ...  :icon_redface:

any other recco's??

thanks, burnt.

kinda weird, tho, cuz i routinely swap out out dual opamps (4558s) in the 250 reissues for 741s, and it works fine -- perhaps (unlike the 250 RIs) the FX50 actually uses both sides.  ;D

cheers,
