Hello,

Newbie here.  great forum!

I'm trying to make a volume pedal that has stomp switches instead of the typical "wah" style.   Each volume Pot would have it's own stomp switch + LED.   4 Volume Pots, 4 Stomp switches, 4 LED's.   How do I go about wiring it so that the patches switch?    How can I wire it so if I click one stompswitch, all others bypass?

Thanks!

You'd have to use relays with each switch sending a momentary pulse.  But you'd also have to have a logic circuit in there, otherwise the switches would just flip-flop.

I'm not sure there would be much point to it, as you'd have a lot of circuitry and a power supply just to get volume presets.

What does this button do?

I've never wired relays or logic chips.   Any suggestions on which ones I should use?   Any suggestions for a good FAQ on this?

ThanKS!

You could use simple switches and set them up like a tree structure. For example, consider a simple A/B box. You have one switch to select A or B. Now, you could take three A/B boxes and let the first one select which of the other two should be used.

You could do something similar with three footswitches and four pots. The middle footswitch could select between the left and right pair. The left switch selects between the left two pots and the right between the right two pots. (Does this make sense?)

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
