Hello.

I'm planning pn using a MAX1044 for voltage doubling. the thing is, where to put the power filtering and voltage dividing

I figrue that the voltage dividing and it's own filtering should be after the doubler and the LED at 9v+ (also going into the 1044's pin8)

now, the power filtering coming from the wall wart sould be at V+ or at +18v ?

I'm also planning on using the PNP tranny for input-battery switching.

thanks in advanced :)

I would add a better filtering to the input and aftet the output of the MAX.
My  suggestion is to use 120-150uH coils instead of the Rs, then 47uF for the caps are enough, if you use Rs, min. 220uF are needed for the caps for a proper filtering.

The MAX 1044 is stable to 10-15mA of current, if you need more use another type of CP.
