The later version with the BS250 P channel mosfets is supposed to be quieter than the ealier versions that use the N channel 2N7000's.  Joe says the P channels have substantially less noise.   :icon_cool:

I'm not sure why I didn't think of this before, but the AMZ Pro Dist. uses a BMP style gain stage before a Rat type distortion circuit.   :icon_cool:

You might try the Hidrosis.
A high-gain, low-noise version of the Maestro MFZ-1.
Worth a look.  Previous threads have soundclips, graphics for a PnP PCB, and an overlay.
