it's the blend model. the other model had different knobs as well.

the ronsound link says eh 1330 for the blend model and eh 3054 for the series parallel.
I spy with my little eye a EH 3054 on the copper side of the board...

space_cake

that is true, however the switch says "blend" and the knobs are the ones similar to way huge style and not the "barrel" type they used with the other model. i don't remember the link but there was a wensite the showed both big muffs and you could see the boards are totally different. but whatever model it is i don't have a schematic for it :(

I have a couple DLX Big Muffs kicking about, not sure what models and cant check at the mo 'cause I'm at work.  Will have a look later if I'm not too late back.

i feel like giving up :(
i have no idea what could be wrong.

One thing that might help is a sound clip.  very often, the verbal descriptors that people use might make sense in their own heads but not ring any bells in others'.  A sound clip can often be as informative for troubleshooting a circuit as listening to the motor is for an automechanic.

i have a sound clip but i don't know where to host it... any ideas?

That is strange!

Ok, I still recommend you post voltages for all the IC's + discretes. Also an audio probe would be a good idea to identify where the strange effect happens in the signal path.

There is a general debugging post template in the forum sticky entitled "What to do when it doesnt work" follow those instructions.

i got my deluxe big muff from a friend and it had a few problems:
1. the effect won't go off and will leake when bypassed
2. you have to set the volume very high to match the clean volume of the guitar
3. when the compressor section's "release" knob is set anywhere but minimum it starts to make a phase like sound as as i turn it up the phase sound gets longer. when i play a chord and mute the strings i can hear it very well.

I've got a Big Muff Deluxe "Series/Parallel" (with 3054-Board) from a friend and I've got the same problems:
1. very quiet "fuzz" signal in the background when pedal is in Bypass mode. But I've got the same on my own Op-Amp-Big Muff.
2. not very loud, when all volume is full up.
3. strange phase-sounds on the compressor.

Maybe it's normal?
