hello guys,
i've seen many different ways to mount the PCB in the box.
in some pictures it seems like the PCB hanging in the wires.

which way is the best?

thank you!

the world is your oyster........
probably better to attach to box some how...
I sometimes use a stand off system called hot glue..
the rest of the time, I cover the copper side w/ duct. tape etc,
and let it dangle........
I suppose some people actually use metal PCB stand-offs....
.......I'll bet that REALLY does it.................................

I use screw down standoffs - screwed through the top of the board - as I dislike gluing things and the pre-adhesive jobbers never stay stuck.
Passive sucks.

I just leave it hang on wires, since there are average 3 pots with 3 leads each + I/0 and 9V give more than 10 wires. More than enough to keep it "in the air", I just put plastic foil below to prevent contact

how should standoffs be secured to the box?

with a screw usually

countersink the screw head, and put a lockwasher in between the standoff and the enclosure, so it doesn't ever get loose.  Then you can cover it up with a label or sticker or something.

On a couple of pedals I've made the board long and thin, so it can stand vertically.  Then its captured mechanically by other parts, like the jacks

Older Zvex stuff that I've seen pictures of has the skinny vertical board too.  It can save a lot of space.

i don't think i've seen holes through the sides/top/bottom of a box for a screw for standoffs.

edt.  sorry i wrote this will that previous reply was posted.  is there another way to do it without drilling extra holes?

You can also use a couple of hex nuts stacked appropriately to aproximate a standoff.  I promise that will be cheaper than buying standoffs from a Elec supplier- plus you can make any size you need without cutting anything.

Note extra holes drilled through top for screws?

Note total lack of screws, it's just hanging by the wires? ;)

note correction made prior to your posting.  just poking for some fun.

I've got some small standoffs that i screwed to my board already, i thought maybe the method was to glue then to othe inside somehow, but i wanted to make this build as modular as possible.
