Does anybody know of a good functional substitite (not pin-for-pin) for the NE570 compander?

Thanks!

I tried the search function, but it was not my friend today.

Peter,

  I found SA570 or NE570N or NE572.

I've been doing a lot of searching for this kind of chip lately for a project and all I've been able to find are:

I started out with nothing... I still have most of it.

On Semiconductor makes all of those now.

Just in case some naive observers may not grasp the subtleties here, by "functional", you mean a chip that does the "same thing", more or less, but: a) does not have the same pinout, b) may require different signal conditioning at both input and/or output, and c) may require more or fewer external support components to accomplish what it does.

This is NOT the same as proposing that a pair of LF353 FET-input dual op-amps can sub for a TL074 quad bifet op-amp.

A single channel device is nice. But it's really bizzare - they have two part numbers, one a compressor and one an expandor, but the typical circuits show identical internal arrangements, only the external parts are hooked up differently.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks for the replies! 8)

The PT2395 is still made so I was hoping to find a current make of compander to join with it.  :icon_biggrin:

You can order the whole family of NE570 devices from On Semiconductor. Just received my low-voltage 575s last week.

OK, lets get right to the point. Is the reason you want to use something different than the 570/571 an availability/ performance issue? Or; you "just want to do something different"? (I can relate to that...)

Thank you Nasse. I was looking for a currently manufactured devices and thought all the NE570s out there were NOS parts by this point.

Big thanks again for the sources and substitutes. 8)
