Somewhere I have a schematic, I think out of Popular Electronics, that was a Fuzz.  It had a picture of Sir Paul with a Rickenbacker bass in the article.  Has anyone else seen that.  Probably 30+ years ago.

I remember it years ago. I think it was called square wave fuzz or something like that. I built one. It used three double A batteries and it had an odd, very expensive transistor. It sounded a bit like a Mosrite Fuzzrite. Early fuzz sounds.pl

Yep, it was a low voltage device and FET-based.  I had it at one point, and it may well be in my basement...or not.

One place it MAY be is in your local public library, which tends to have former subscriptions to Popular Electronics and/or Radio Electronics.  Most of these will in all likelihood be one microfiche.

If memory serves, it was from the era when all covers were esentially white with some image in the middle.  I think that same issue had some stuff about the TRS-80 in it.  My guess is somewhere between 1981 and 1985.  It was just a 2-page article so even if your library is one of those that uses photocopying machines as a means to subsidize librarian retirement funds, it should cost you too much.
