Hello Everyone.

I posted a new effect at the site. Well really it is an update to the Vanishing Point. The article will explain the changes.

Enjoy.

Great one! I must say I am really satisfied with the 2.0 version I build.

When I get bored I will try this one ;)

Slightly O/T but thanks for the great P&P guide on your site!  Gonna try this w/e and that was really informative! :)

Glad you like it. :) You can always pick and choose what you want. This is DIY after all. ;) Most of the changes can be done through the switch wiring so it won't be hard to try something to see if you like it or not.

Looks like the site got slammed after I posted. If you do get the message wait about an hour and give it another shot. I wish there was a decent free host that didn't have such limits. :( If it continues to be an issue I'll post the schematic here temporally.

I was looking at datasheets, verifying pinouts, specs, etc., and I saw that the TI 4017 chip has a different pinout then the block diagram on your schematic. Am I missing something glaring?

Yeah. The "4' on the end.

CD4017 != CD40174

Cool stuff!  Reminds me about how much of a newbie I am :(

If you'd like, I can host your site though, for free.  It doesn't look like its very big or anything, just text and a few pics, so if you're interested I can make you an FTP account and you can put your site up on my server.

Andrew, you might want to consider posting the images on Photobucket and linking to them from Geocities.

I'm waiting for access.  :icon_biggrin:

Wow. The site is getting really slammed. I didn't expect this. I took Peter's suggestion and moved the more bandwidth intensive stuff onto another host so that should lighten things up and reduce the likeliness of the site going down.

To those who have offered to host my site I say thank you for the generous offer but I would rather keep the site somewhere public where I know it will be ok. There are only a few people around here that I would consider to host my site but once the initial rush dies down I sure things will be fine.

Very cool!

You're fast becoming the Canadian DIY effects version of Forrest Mims.  :icon_surprised:

Andrew, that's great stuff, and great writing!
I haven't built one yet, but everytime you post an update to the VP, I learn a little more, for when I DO decide to build one, so that's cool!
I'm going to build one for a friend and put one in my Soundlab!  :icon_cool:

Okay, Mr. Smarty Pants ( :icon_mrgreen: ), can that optoisolator be one with an NPN transistor instead of an LDR?  And if so, could it be connected to the filter section of a Bass Balls or Dr. Q?
