today completes my first year on aron's forum.  gaussmarkov.net is a diy site for new_bees that i am starting in appreciation.  i think its main strength right now is some support for getting started with the free eagle layout software, especially some component libraries and some project files that you can download.  look under "tools" and "layouts."  i am planning to build a site with more basic info in other areas as well.

thanks to everyone, gm :icon_biggrin:

Happy anniversary!  And best of luck with the site.

Some of the folks here have been fortunate enough to score a copy of one or more of the various DIY books oriented at pedal making, such as RGs book on PCB layout, or Brian Wamplers more comprehensive book on pedal building.  Having a single respository for PCB-related tools will hopefully provide an opportunity for more of the ambitious beginners to apply what they have learned and pick up some useful rules of thumb for board design, as well as contributing content for others to learn from.

yeah!  i have a tutorial in the works on board design.  i have not had the good fortune to see these books.  R.G. is making some new ones of his i think.  my tutorial is going to describe some of the things i have picked up from experience and looking at francisco pena's layouts on tonepad.

and i'd like to mention that i would like to support expresspcb stuff, too.  so anyone who is interested in sharing their expresspcb knowledge, please pile on!

you know, it's kinda nice to look back and see the progress.  mojotron made a similar post on his first birthday and that's what inspired me.  it's cool.  this is a great place.

hi marty!  welcome to the party.  :icon_biggrin:  in honor of your arrival, i thought i would post a vero layout of something on the new site.  so i semi-randomly chose jack orman's amz minibooster:  i already had the schematic in my eagle files.  :icon_wink:  as you know, i am not a very good vero designer so i decided to copy dragonfly's excellent work.

ack!  there's a small minor not very important error in dragonfly's layout, which i discovered only because eagle would not let me make one of his connections: the voltage supply filter is not hooked up the usual way. instead of the 100 ohm resistor going from +9v into the 100uF cap, the cap is also hooked up to +9v.  small potatoes, but there it is.  :icon_confused:  so i ended up fiddling around and making a slightly different layout and that is now on the layouts page.

thanks for everything marty!

edit may 2, 2006: i contacted andrew directly and he has corrected his vero layout (even tho the date still reads 02/2006).
