My Crybaby has finally bitten the dust (still works, kinda).  Will be buying a new one and TB-ing it and alot of other stuff.  I have some 3PDT switches laying around and would like to use one of those to avoid having to buy anything else.

Anyone have a drawing/layout for the wiring with a 3PDT?

Thanks!!!

Depending on what wha you got

Just wire it up like a 2pdt, leaving one third of the switch blank.

So with the poles/tabs/whetevertheyare oriented like this

- - -

- - -

Do I leave the bottom row empty, or the row on the right empty?

(Sorry for being a tard, heh)

syndromet

Leave the right row empty.
And check out the beginners forum to learn how the switches work.  ;)

Everything in stompboxbuilding becoms a lot simpler when you learn what a switch really does

The DMM'll tell you which way...that and switching it, just see which way the signal goes from a middle lug...should go from middle to one side, not the other...switch it...then it'll go to the other side and not the one.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

with the extra set of poles you could aadd an led...easy add if you're already changing the switch... a buddy of mine had me put one on the back of his wah since the rocker obscures most of the front...

just more fun things to do :)

I thought you had to mod the rubber part to work with the 3PDT? Does it fit right in? I never tried it on my Cry Baby.

I have 3PDT switches in 5 of my 6 regularly used wah pedals. The switches work in all of them, without messin' with the rubber stops. I usually have to use no washers/nuts at all between the switch body and the exterior of the enclosure. Sometimes it can be a challenge to get it to be in between being too easy to switch and not easy enough. For the ones that give me trouble, I use cork pad (or two) in place of the felt pad that makes contact with the switch actuator - I like doing that much better than messin' with the rubber stops.  :icon_wink:

I have thought about doing that, but I have concerns about popping noises. Have you had no popping problems after adding an LED?

Just got a red Snarling Dogs wah at GC for $75.

I was torn, I was looking forward to modding the hell out of another Crybaby.  But I got 10 days to try it to see if I want to keep it.

I will, of course, take it apart and see what all the swicthes/knobs do.  heh!

A schematic would be interesting to look at.  :icon_wink:

Yeah, $uperpuma, i would like to know too if you have pops with the LED, i have tried everything to get rid of the pop but it always pops.

With just the wah engaged, it pops the first time i step on it, then after that it never pops. But with a fuzzface or any distortion pedal after it, it pops everytime i turn it on, i tried everything to stop it and no luck....

I seem to remember reading about this. I think that is why I have never added a LED to any of my wahs as a matter of fact.  :icon_frown:

I'll diesct the Whine-O-Wah and report back my findings

I'd be interested to see if it's not just another CryBaby copy.

This worked for me.  no pop... but the sound of the physical snap-back on the new switch is kind of loud in "bedroom" conditions... I'm sure you can't hear it in a live sound type setting

Hmm... that AMZ Led Popping article gives me the confidence to try adding an LED indicator one of my wah pedals.  :icon_cool:

I had a whine-o-wah plus, one upon a time.  It had 3 EQ settings and a gain boost switch.  The throw on mine wasn't as trebly as a cry baby, and the sweep was very uneven.  I have no idea whether it has anything to do with the cry baby! :)
