I like SIP much better than DIP...at least from a PCB designing standpoint.  I don't know why SIP isn't more popular in through hole PCBs.

Me too.  Having a choice of mounting a component on one side or the other of a chip offers up so much more flexibility in terms of layout.


Hmmm, this sounds like a job for Steve Daniels.

Methinks this community needs more SIP chips.  Some 4558s. 5218s. 13600s, and a couple of 6110s and the joint be rocking.  Note to Francisco: a SIP-sized 13600 would make a 6 or even 8 stage phaser a piece of cake to fit into one of Small Bear's taiwanese 125 cases.
