I just finished making the colorsound overdriver using the vero layout in the gallery
hope i can attach it

just wanted to know if anyone has built this and or can verify it before I start pulling  my hair out

thanks

anyone???

here are my voltages :

q1 collector 1.656v
     base      .981v
     emiter    .421v

q2 collector 5.91v
     base     1.656v
     emitter  1.008v

g3 collector 6.34v
     base      1.548v
     emitter   .91v

Nice to see someone's used my layout, shame you're having trouble with it.
I've built it and I can confirm it works fine. I'm at work at the minute but I'll check my voltages when I get home.
What's the problem you're having with it?

Thanks !!

when in engaged mode I get no sound
if I touch different components or the back of the board I can get some noises and when I remove the third transistor I can get a pop through the amp
also question for you the gain knob works backward
did you intentionly mean to show the pots facing up ??

I have a feeling all the pots are backwards because in the vero layout they are facing up
I don't think that would cause it not to work

Lately I have been on a losing streak with effects  :icon_sad: :icon_sad:

I checked mine and your voltages look OK. Q2 and Q3s collectors are a bit high, according to the schematic they should be around 5 volts, I don't think that would stop it working though. On mine I had to increase the 1k8 resistors to around 2k2 to get the collectors to 5 volts.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but have you connected the board ground to audio ground? If you haven't then  it won't work all you get is hiss.
Yes you're right all the pots are shown wired backwards. If you imagine you're looking at the back of the pots instead of the front then they'll be right. I'll correct the layout.

dansamp

the gain pot is grounded to the board and the input and output are grounded to each other
can't remember if the jacks are grounded to the board
I will check that.
the tone pots are not grounded, should they be grounded??

also could you let me know what the voltages should be?
thanks for yor help

no they should just be wired up like the layout.

Here are mine, if you check out the schematic it shows the collectors of Q2 and Q3 as being 5 volts.

Q1
C 1.62
B 0.93
E 0.37

Q2
C 5.13
B 1.62
E 0.96

Q3 using 2k2 collector resistor instead of 1k8
C 4.96
B 1.50
E 0.86
