What type Potentiometer would you use for a Wah Wah pedal? Linear,Audio or etc. Thanks for any info.

AC30Dirty

I beleive LINEAR. But, I could be wrong. If your looking to replace the pot in an existing wah pedal I would recomend a PROPOT. These pots have a very smooth action and a vintage taper. Hope this helps

Where can you buy these? What  kind of price? My problem is I bought a used crybaby pedal for $30.00. But If I have to send 30 to 35 dollars on a pod. I might be better off buying a new pedal. Thank You.

Those pots are amazingly expensive. I just spent about $30 for an audio pot for my Sho Bud.

Im still experimenting with different wahs and pots ect... Aron- What can you tell me about the SHO Bud Wah?  Any pics of the insides? Is it just another variation of the Crybaby?

I believe the sho bud is a volume pedal not a wah. Still...

Has anyone use a Hoffman Pro Pot before? The price is right $15.00 plus shipping.

I've never spent or seen (for that matter) the pro pot for more than $20!! Ebay has them and so does small bear. Arielfx has them too. as for the pot you suggested, i've never heard of it. Juat as curious as you are. ;D

have you tried the fulltone pot? How does it compare with the pro?

In case you haven't, the fulltone has a lot of zero Ohmage in the start and then it jumps up to 100K quite quickly.
(definitely NOT a linear taper)

does the propot have a similar behaviour?

guitarnut2

Sorry, It was Hoffman Amplifiers.com. The Pro Pot was designed to have the same taper as a vintaged ICAR pot found in some of the early
Italian wahs. It has a less radical "S" taper than the Fulltone with no abrupt kinks. Whatever all this means?

Has anyone tried the Life Pot from Bourns? ArielFX calls it the Roger Mayer Life pot, but themn goes on to say that its built by Bourns.

Are you talking about the blue life pots? If so I used to have one- I liked it compared to everything else out there except fulltone pots which i have yet to try. But the life pots have 3 legs that come of it for which I some how managed to break one off and its no more. I checked ebay and some guy is selling that pot for around 18 $ and a pro pot for about the same.

The Roger Mayer Life Pot is straight 100K linear taper. The Propot and Fulltone pot are night and day. The Propot is about 200K and has a very gradual taper so the sweep is spread out more, so for any abrupt changes you really have to work it heel to toe. Some people really like it once they get used to it. While, as stated before, the Fulltone pot is 100K and sort of flat for more than half of the sweep then abruptly changes, so any changes have to  be controlled with subtle movements of the foot.  It is a matter of taste, both claim to be a vintage taper, which seems unlikely since they are so different.

I thought that was what came with my Roger Mayer 9090A kit (Bourns 100k audio taper) IIRC.
