Hi,
I had a 741 around so I decided put it on a perfboard and build a Tube Reamer, just toying around.
Jeez, it sounds way cool for such a little build! I made the MartyMart version, except for the gain pot (I put a 22K in, no 47K at home) because I'm not a full-on-distorsion lover, and my Jcm800 seems to love the circuit, I'd like to thank the Tube Reamer authors.
There's only one thing I find a little strange, the decay of the sound is a bit short, with a thin shade of some 'bubbles' as it fades away, Is it a Tube Reamer characteristics, as far as you know, or is it my circuit (or maybe my strato+marshall combo...)?
thanx

somethin' might be up with yours.  one thing I like about mine is the fact notes don't really decay, they end up feedbacking what sounds like a harmonic of the note I'm holding.  I did the normal version though.

Wierdness on fadeout...I'd check the bias on the opamp...
I always check the bias on an opamp.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

I forgot to say the bubbling decay comes out with dist at higher values, so your idea about the opamp bias could be the right one, I'll double check the voltages,
Thank you!

Voltages seem ok, I changed the opAmp with another 741. It sounds better, maybe the old one was half dead, don't know.
The bass side is a bit too big for my taste, so I changed the the .22 uF cap to a .1 uF and the 1K5 R to 2K2 R, raising up the lower rolloff frequency when the dist is higher.
A pedal very lively. I still I prefer my old (holy) Red Snapper (the one that I use to calibrate my ears) but considering I built it with spare parts it's a big project!
bye

BTW. the pedal I made is the first version of tube reamer, I didn't know (until now) there is a ver. 2.0 around....

I really like the Lo-Fi sound of some of the 741 builds.
They sound, well,..........old. ;)

Is there a version 2?... Hey, there is one. I just checked on Runoffgroove.

The one I built sound very good with no decay or "after sound". But I wonder about version 2???

I'm building V.2 this week - I'm anxious to hear it.  Anyone add a tone control to this circuit?  I like to be able to roll off highs; maybe the circuit can be tweaked to the point that I'll be happy with the natural/straight tone w/o a tone control.

I've just use my reamer with my band this evening (component values sligtly changed, see above), in front of a Peavey Classic 30, and my tele sounded awesome. The right snap picking the string, aggressive but not too acid, I think I'm going to substitute my modded sd-1 in the pedalboard.
One complain only, my unit seems to pick some radio. I'm pretty sure there's no ground loop in, every ground goes to one point (the input jack), no rings. My other pedals sounds clean and I used a battery as supply.
Any ideas?
thanx,
M
