i was asked to make an Y-splitter (not A/B/Y). i know this can be problematic.
is a ground-lift switch a good idea?

I made one using the left half of the Splitter/Blender on ROG...works great!  The old Fender amps I use have ground switches...and it IS important to have both grounded correctly...but I didn't have to do anything on the pedal.

Are you sending the split signal to two amps, or to two effect chains to be mixed back together later?  Because if it's just going to two different effect chains, then you can use a Radioshack Y-adapter.  Mono 1/4" 1 male 2 female.

This assumes that you're sending the signal to two effects with relatively high impedances, like Boss/Dod/Ibanez pedals.

well the guy wants to record using 2 amps at the same time. i'll take a look on the ROG site

you should get a good result by just "cutting" this circuit right after the first 10uF caps (right before send and before the pot).

that way you get two buffered signals. No loss.
Get it?

Nothing spells splitter like a transformer:

2 Way Passive Splitter

4 Way Active Splitter

Not that you neccesarily need to use Jensen transformers as they are expensive.  However why not use the best parts?  Alternatives include in order of price and performance:

Lundahl Transformers, Oxford Electronic Products, Triad Magnetics, the Mouser, Allied, and Digi-Key house brands.

Just make sure the specs line up.
Passive sucks.

Your signature says "Passive sucks."

You can find a bunch of good buffer splitters round here.
