Interesting...so the tubes aren't replaceable then?

stumper1

I was told by my Duncan rep that they will have to be sent in to have them replaced.

Great sounding pedal though......

You should compress them, on my crappy dialup it takes 6-7min for each of them  :icon_frown:

Sorry Bancika, I'll upload them to my webshots account which will compress them smaller.

"Danger Hot" on the board. How hot? Just wondering what the chances are of the those tubes heating up enough to damage the board?

It's just a disclaimer...(I don't know if you are in the USA or not)...here in the US, it is becoming increasingly common for citizens to sue companies in an attempt to get money. For example, people have sued restaurants for getting burned by coffee while drinking (uhh...coffee is supposed to be hot!  :icon_rolleyes: ). For this reason, you have to put disclaimers on EVERYTHING and even then it doesn't guarantee you won't get sued. Common sense is freaking DEAD here obviously.

I forgot...the tubes don't get *that* hot... not anything like power tubes.

Well, on the other hand, if you don't expect warmth, people can sometimes startle as they touch it, leading to lord knows what other calamities (like knocking it off the table as you flinch, etc, etc).  So, it's not the danger of the heat per se, just a warning to expect it.

As for disclaimers, between the number of schoolchildren with assorted oilseed allergies (nuts, sesame, etc), and the number of companies that put a disclaimer on their products that says "Warning: May have come into contact with products containing nuts", or "May contain traces of nut products", or "Made on equipment used with products containing nuts", there are few things left that a parent can buy their kids for lunch snacks anymore, except for things like fresh fruit and celery/carrot sticks.  Of course, it won't be long before the produce places start issuing disclaimers that their apples MAY have been placed beside peanuts in the shell at some point, just to get off the hook for lawsuits. :icon_rolleyes:

All the subm tubes I've used in my builds get hot, due to the filament heating. Powertube or not. Wonder how they run the filaments in that thing, if the tubes don't get *that* hot?

That's a good point Mark, and one I didn't think about. :)
Although some folks who are allergic to peanuts can have extreme reactions to eating anything 'contaminated' by them, though I know what you mean. :)

Don't get me wrong...there IS heat coming from it, just not a ton of heat like my el84 based amp gives off! You could fry an egg on that dude!  :icon_lol:

I get your point, I could fry an egg on my subminiatyres,  but I'd need longer cookingtime  ;D

they are replaceable, but that would take a soldering tool. (DIY)
It`s a must if you have to change them each 80.000 to100.000 hours of use.
Take care of the pinout!
