Broken transistor = diode?

Hi

I bought a bag of dioges and realized they are in fact triodes with one lead broken. Can I do the same with my damaged triodes? Or did I get ripped off?

depends on your definition of "damaged"...  :-\

A healthy transistor can be wired as a diode.

You didn't get ripped off if you bought them for use as diodes and not transistors.
Are they Ge? When the Ge trannies are too leaky to be useable, it's almost common practice to use them as diodes.

They look like normal Si trannies, but with 2 leads, same thing for my broken transistors. They all have the middle and one of the side lugs intact.

I might try them out on my current build and see what it gives.
