Someone gave me one of these for nothing. Pretty beat up but still works although its really fuzzy.

Anyone got a schematic or mods for this one?

I'd be willing to bet a month's salary that somewhere on that board, you will see a pair of diodes in parallel, either going to ground or in the feedback loop of an op-amp.  If you replace one of these with an LED (in the right orientation) or at least with 2 silicon diodes, you'll likely get more output and a little more dynamic responsiveness.
