I needed this pedal really bad as being a bass player, and I love the things it does. Now I need to know something:

- My pedal pops when turned on (sidechains); is this normal?
- The overall volume when the blend knob is at 50% is lower than the bypassed signal; is this normal? I had to use a bigger pot as I had no other laying around the house (250k instead of 25k).

Thanks!

I would say yes as different people already mentionned it (including MartyMart i think). Or it could be a phase problem.
Correct me if i'm wrong but it seems quite logical, because of the blend pot configuration. If using a linear pot, it is supposed to have the maximum resistance on each side of the wiper when the pot is centered. The output is connected to the wiper so with a 25k pot that means you will have 12k on both paths to the output.
But now if you set that blend pot fully clockwise or counter clockwise, you will have 0k on one path and 25k on the other. The path with no resistance will probably come out louder than the same path with a 12k resistance (when the blend pot is centered).
The mini mixer is probably better in that aspect.

How much quieter? If only a little bit the 250k pot might be causing some of it. That is a big jump from 25k. There is also a very small loss through the JFET, though I don't know if that would be noticable.

Try plugging straight wires across the two send/returns. Do you still get the loss? If so, you could add a gain stage at the output to compensate.

And the two signals could be slightly out of phase. Does the volume go up if you turn the pot either way?

Yes, when I turn the pot the volume go up. Will try another pot today

With a 1k pot I have less problems. Anyone know a solution to the popping? I tried adding a pull down resistor to the "return" path, but that made the popping even worse.

(250k instead of 25k).
This will introduce more resistance to the signal path when in 'middlin' settings, attenuating the signal.
Even with a 25k there is a Volume drop for settings not at or near extremes of CCw/Cw..
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Now I use a 1k (A) pot that works just fine! Only that popping is quite annoying

OK, another question: did someone noticed any bass loss? My P bass sounds more treble when run through this unit.

Last question: I tried it with OPA chips and they don't work......... maybe it is the chips, I will try.
