I  was wondering if anyone has ever painted a box with the type of paint used for model cars, planes, etc. I built a Dist. + and used the craft paint without primer so it's kinda bumpy but the paint sticks very well. Also, what kind of primer do you use when painting your boxes?

I have three cans of this paint at home too but I've never considered using them... Might try them out, thanks for the tip. :)

LOL!

i did once. just plain metal primer.

then went over with some blue, and silver metal flake.

then glossed.

turned out pretty well...but needed more to keep from chipping.

I still have more tests to do, but for one of mt boxes, I used Krylon Gesso Spray instead of primer, and applied some Delta Craft paint over it, and used a Craft Clear.

Well, the paint seems to hold on very well. Better than one where I used some real primer first, and used Krylon Clear.

I am doing tests these days with Auto Air base coat, followed by Auto Air paint. I am still not decided about the clear.

But I would suggest the Krylon Gesso anytime.
