Built a Guv clone, but no sound?

I built a Guvnor clone using the GGG schematic and parts list.  Problem is that it appears that everything is wired corectly, but still it doesn't work.  With power applied the LED lights up and goes off and on with the footswitch, but no sound comes out.  Only thing I see that might be odd is there are two resisters that differ between the schematic and the parts list.  R3 on the parts list asks for a 47K while the schematic asks for1M.  Also the R5 resister on the parts list is 10K and on the schematic is 47k.  I put it together via the parts list...should I follow the schematic.....would these differences be enough to make the pedal not function.  Anything else to look into.

Yeah, I'm working on a Guv clone too (I own the original, but don't want to bring it on the road!).
There are a few errors on the part list, I am happy I based myself on the schematic and the wiring diagram when I ordered part.

The R5 forms the voltage divider along with R4, so it has to be the same as R4 else you're not biasing the opamp correclty at 4.5V. This is made even worse if R3 is 47K instead of 1M (that's one heck of a difference) since this is part of the biasing circuit too. R2 is supposed to be 10K, obviously the second 47K is for R5. So definitely swap those (the part list is wrong, but the drawing that shows where to put the parts on the PCB is correct... assuming you did use a PCB of course).

Although I'm not EE, it seems to be that would still be hearing something even with those resistors misplaced, just something sounding aweful.

Good news. This kind of thing has happened to at least one other person before you. So we posted what to do.

It's that sticky that is always there at the top - "What to do when it doesn't work". Give that a read. It might help.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
