does anyone know where i could get a pedal screen printed in the UK? as i cant afford £300 on a full printing and exposure kit, i thought somewhere might do screen printing onto pedals

has anyone had a screen print done or would anyone do a one off screen print onto a pedal for me

what sort of prices would a place charge to have a pedal printed?

if anyone can suggest anything please reply or send me a private message

This guy is a fourm member and has been working on getting something going in this area for a while. I think his name here is juicus. He's not in the UK but given the quality of his work and his cheap prices I'd definitely ask him about it.

You could just ring up your local screenprinting shop.

...but for 300 pounds...you could easily DIY!  All you need to makes screens are:

* Some wood, nails, and a saw to make a frame
* Some silkscreening mesh and a staple gun to put the screen on the frame
* Some photoemulsion and an emulsion applying bar
* An overhead transparency and a bit of glass
* Ink and a squeegee

It may seem like a lot, but the most expensive thing is the emulsion, which costs about $30.

I can't help you in the UK, but here in South Australia it worked out to about AUS$7 per pedal (in a batch of 24), and that included a fixed 'artwork and photo tooling' fee of AUS$26.40! There must be something equivalent in your area - the guys who did this never seem to advertise, only get work via word of mouth (I found out via an EE design / manufacture firm I did some software development with once). Oh - and the all import lead time (if you are a manufacturer) - 10 days. I simply provided the artwork in Adobe Illustrator format, and they did the rest.

Good luck

Here's a good DIY guide that's similar to what I've done except that I stapled my screens and didn't use fancy bulbs.  You don't need no stinkin' bulbs...the sun is all you need!  The only reason I don't screenprint anymore is because I can't afford to buy a tub of photoemulsion to only use a few spoonfuls.  The stuff only lasts a few months before going off, so it's a waste if you don't need all of it.

*BRAINWAVE*  Why didn't I ever think of just mixing enough sensitizer and emulsion for my needs rather than mixing up the whole tub at once?!?

Funny how you think of these things in hindsight.  Perhaps I'll start doing it again.

If you decide you don't want to do screenprinting but do want a powdercoated enclouser, I'll HIGHLY recommend pedal parts plus. I ordered from them 2 or three days ago and my order just arrived at my doorstep a few hours ago- inside the box one of the most perfectly powdercoated bright red boxes I've ever seen (i thought i'd go for a bright color that'd be really obvious if they did a great job or a bad one). I have yet to try kustom powder, but plan to when I make a box that I know I love and can't live without.
