how does the 6 (7?) way switch thing work? i have one, but dont know how to install it.

also...when people refer to "growl" in a wah...what the hell is growl, and how do i "control" it?
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

The rotary switches can be configured in various manners.  The switch you're speaking of, I will assume is the type that has one common lug, and 6 or 7 switched lugs.  As you rotate the knob, the switch makes mechanical contact between each switched lug and the common.

The only two ways to figure out what yours does are the following:
a) get a datasheet for the rotary switch
b) use a multimeter and set up a test sequence measuring for continuity between all the pins, then rotate the switch on click, and do it again until you pick up the pattern.

"Growl", I think, is affected by filter "Q", transistor distortion, and perhaps some contribution from magnetic saturation in the inductor.  It seems to happen when the filter sweeps through the 300-500Hz range (center frequency).  Perception of growl is also affected by the way the pedal travel modifies the center frequency.

I would say your best bet to optimize "growl" is to mess with the filter resonance ("Q"), and the range by means of what I'm assuming you're planning to do with the rotary switch.  The distortion characteristics are inherent to the wah pedal, and I don't think you would improve things much by trying to make it distort more on purpose.
