When you connecting capacitors in parallel the values add up (like connecting resistors in series).
C = C1 + C2

When you connect them in series you get the same thing as if you were to connect resistors in parallel
1/C = 1/C1 + 1/C2

bancika

place two 0.022 in series and you'll be in the ballpark, within tolerance

connecting a 1uf and a 0.1uF in series is close (but that 1uF may be pretty big...). Connecting 2 0.047uF in parallel is pretty close.

im getting really close to a specific tone...

0.010 is a pretty standard value that should be available

You're probably looking for a 0.010uf instead of a .01uf cap. Look for a .01uf.

These are very common and even *gasp* Radio Shack should have them.

Also, don't forget that .010 uF is the same as 10nF

That depends on what material caps you are using. For polystyrene you can get a .01uf and a .002 uf to make .012uf. For polypropylene and certain film caps you would have to use a .01uf and (2) .001uf's. This is probably for the sweep cap in a wah right?
