I have a great jc-55 for keyboard and jazz guitar, which has the most God awful distortion channel. when I switch it on I get a signal boost, say at 1-2 ,after tjat its get bad,but it made me think that it would be useful t have the boost WITHOUT the distortion.Im wondering because its all pc board if a resistor here or there could be changed to keep the boost but loose the distortion.Any thoughts on how this might be done. The amp guys dont want anything to do with it ,but I bet our pedal guys could! thanks

the distortion circuit is based around IC2A, there's a few things you can do here to give it more zing ... R2 = 47k can be replaced by 470k for harder diode drive ... you may also want to replace the diode arrangement at the output - perhaps taking the MXR Dist+ circuit or similar as a model ...
