Hi
A while ago i built an Easy Face with blend input cap(as seen on the General Guitar Gadgets page).
Instead of the hybrid version i used two AC188's.
It sounds really good, but not much happends when i turn the blend knob. It sound as if i had only the
"big" capacitor in there.
I would really like to be able to make it less fat sounding. Does anybody have an idea what could be wrong?
By the way: what would a sillicon transistor in Q1 do to the sound?

  miswire
  wrong value pot
or something else best found with a DMM...
blind guesses based on less than vivid memories of the schematic

Hi
Thanks Peter. I have checked the wiring, and it should be ok.
Could it be the cap values? They're 0.01 and 2.2 uf. One is
electrolyt and the other metal film.

.o1uf...Smallish, about the min value I like as FF C1
2u2, large value should let lots of mud in...
Has the DMM revealed any 'secrets'?
Id' go through withe DMM set for 'beep/continuity' and test the Resistances of the pot [from wiper to one Outside Lug, then wiper to other OL] settings.
I've had problems with *actual connections that 'look made.

I used a .0047 and 3.3uf combination on mine. Get's really fuzzy at the 3.3uf side and almost "overdrive like" at the .0047. Maybe you have a bad pot?

Jazzman

Hi again
Thanks for the input, everyone-really appreciate it!!
I tried replacing the 0.01 cap with 0.0047 and now it works!!
It sounds great, but it seems to lose some gain. No big deal, however, as
i'm going for a more overdrive-like tone in that end of the pot.
