I know.....I know!!
It's no big deal that I did a layout for the OD-250 using a schematic.
There are hundreds of layouts for the OD250 on the net.
Okay.
I did it because it's the 3rd circuit I've done from a schematic and the first using an IC that has worked!!
So, I feel as though I am getting somewhere with this layout/schem reading thing and just wanted to post it.
I have more layouts coming soon but for the time being, just bear with me and deal with another OD250 layout for now.
Besides, it's a Fantastic sounding circuit!!
Thanks fellas,

No I really like the 250 also.  The more layouts for this schem the better.  It's interesting to see the different layouts for the same circuit.
I just recently started to listen to country music lately.   I have been listening to rock for many years but the rock music of recent has been crappy to say the least.  I've been trying to learn to play country guitar leads but i have a long way to go.  The 250 is a great distortion for country guitar most of the other distortion pedals Iv'e built are too heavy.  Although I like them too I really have to tone those down and back way off on the gains to get even close to a country distortion sound.  But the 250 sounds right no matter what setting you use.

Oldrocker , if you're getting into some tasty "country rock" try to listen to an album by Shawn Colvin
called " A few small repairs "
It has some fantastic songs, beautiful guitar work and some awesome drum work by Shawn Pelton.
I guarantee that you'll become a fan :D

Just my "tip" for the week !

Thanks!
I agree.
The OD-250 is perfect for the Honky-Tonkin' breakup tone needed by a Country Picker like me.
Also, it doesn't seem to take away any of the Tele-Twang that we love too....it kinda enhances it a bit.
Keep pickin' away at those Country licks and you'll get it.
It's tougher than it sounds.....ain't it?!!

I've recently started playing round with a Dist+ I made back in '97 (one of the first effects I made).  Modding it to OD-250 specs makes this thing much more useable.

I do however like the 0.001uF cap to ground at the input of the circuit otherwise its a bit 'too' bright.

I've tried a 100k volume pot (as per the OD-250) and it seems brighter than the 10k pot used in the dist+.  I'll most likely use a 50k pot as a halfway measure (should be perfect).

I'll look up Shawn Colvin and check it out thanks.
Yes country twanging has more to it then I thought.  I have a Tele I just refurbished so I'll try the 250 out with that.
I haven't heard of using the .001 cap to ground.  I might give that a shot.  Thanks

Oldrocker,

Checkout the dist+ schem and you'll see the 0.001uF cap to ground at the input.  The 100ohm resistor in line with the supply voltage smooths the response out a bit too - I A/B'd it and the top end was a little spikey without it.  I suppose you could increase this resistor more to play with the effect it has.

I notice the schem I used didn't have the 100 ohm resistor?
Tonepad's layout doesn't show it but, GGG's does.
Interesting.  :icon_confused:

Very interesting MarkM, I think you and I have similar taste. After I work out my problems in the Folk Fuzz build, the DOD 250 was the next thing on my list...

Yes mr. newbiebuilder, I would say we do......and GOOD taste at that  :icon_exclaim:
Good luck with the Folk Fuzz, it's well worth it.
How 'bout you give PCB etching a try next time though!
