Just built a String Ringer...

This project has been on my desk for a few months, simply because the daunting task of wiring kept me away. Finally, last night, I finished the wiring. After a very brief debugging, I noticed that there was an unused hole behind an electrolytic capacitor (output...  ::)), which solved the problem when connected.

First off, I don't think that the leftmost stompswitch works, and the 'rate' pot has no noticeable effect. I assume that the problem is connected, and will look into it.

This is probably the weirdest effect pedal ever made. Plucking the string, I create a huge, thumping, distorted, wacky sound that goes out of tune with itself. After some tweaking, I get the VCO into a nice range to play higher up the fretboard, and mess around with a couple of scales. Then, with the mix pot, I isolate the ring mod'd signal, and noice that my fretting doesn't really correspond to the note that comes out...!

The octave mode is pretty cool, too. It sounds very sweeeeeet when used with a neck p'up, representing that higher harmonic much more nicely that the bridge p'up.

I'm sorry that my build isn't quite ready for boxing, for I feel that I really won't have the experience until I can play free of shorting/bending/wtfisthatLEDdoing...?

I built one from a PDF that was posted to the forum a while back. I just got it all wired up a few weeks ago. Still need to box it up. I for get who made the PDF but they did an excellent job.

Mine sounds pretty good. Though I suspect it could use a tune up.

The most left stompswitch should activate/deactivate the LFO. If you are in octave mode you should see the green LED blinking (or not if the LFO is disabled). In ring modulator mode the green LED doesn't blink. If the LFO is engaged the yellow LED blinks too. Is the LFO working?

I was thinking about building one of these, but it really seems like more than I want. While I love big complicated effects with cool features, I didn't want to have to stick another 1590bb box down on my pedalboard.

This one is a bit bigger than a 1590bb box.
