Hi Markm,
Go to this link : http://esnips.com/web/bluessMusic and you can found ccbpedal(incl. sample). Its my share folder.

The above link doesn't work with Firefox for some reason - it does work with IE.

Here's a PCB layout for the CA compressor - using a 4558 (8-pin dual op-amp) instead of the original obsolete LM4739 (14-pin).

Also take a look at Thomas Henry's "Whisper Compressor" (similar to CA compressor)

I have the book that this is in on my desk right now, and it lists the Operational voltage from 9V to 15V.

Thank you kind Sir!
Do you by chance have the schemo or a parts list that goes with this?  ;D

Hey markm, when I found this little circuit a while ago, I wanted to try it before posting it, but I never found the time for that..

If you ever have some free time to try it, it would be interesting to know if it really works, or even what it really does...

He's making it sound like it's a limiter.  There are so few components in that thing it looks like a no-lose proposition!
I wonder what the catch is...

My recommendations are the Whisper Comp and the LA Light. ;)

allright!
I've seen a lot of possibilities now. The CA Comp and Whisper comp have quite a low input impedance (110 and 220K). Would it be good to place a nice buffer in front of these?
What is the 301 kind of an opamp in de CA? Is a TL071 or one side of a TL072 usable?

The LA-light could be good, but I don't like building my own vactrol. There are too many possibilities in LDR's and leds. Just don't like that yet.

Which of these compressors could be very suitable for bass? I tried an Orange squeezer before, but that wasn't the real thing to me, possibly because I could alternate in different compression settings.

The whisper has a Compression pot and the CA has a Sustain pot. Is there a way to use both controls in one of the two schematics? If I would like to be able to modify the attack time, the compression band(depth) and release time, could that be possible with this schematic or should I buy an Alesis then? I have seen a Week Joe compressor but I think that's still to difficult yet.
Damn I love my pedals...

How about the Q&D Laus, that may suit you.

In my experience, the Whisper Comp and the LA Light both sound great with bass... no mods necessary. I also like the minimal controlls very much. No real need to fiddle with attack & release, etc... Very easy to dial in a good sound. The tone control on the Whisper is quite nice, too. I don't find the stock Orange Squeezer to be very bass-friendly, either.

PS - These are also both good candidates for using the MAX1044 to provide +/-9V bipolar power. ;)

thanx guys! And sorry for taking the topic partially.

I have a charge pump around here. Would like to know how many pedals that thing could supply power to. (Would like to drive my flipster, mosboost and overdrive/blend and comp on 18V, is that too much for 1 charge pump?)

I think I will try the whisper then, looks quite easy. Don't like tone control most of the time. The last two stages in the whisper are only amplification and tone, so could be changed or left out. I think to use the space for bass/treb and param.mids after the compression.
