Neat. You might use two or three of these:

How about combining the booster section with the buffer section.

Many of the boosters (jfet-stuff for example) will not need buffering. The tone of some others (bipolar transistor stuff like LPB-1 and rangemaster for example) depend on the input impedance of the booster loading down the guitar pickup.

The boosters are anyway practically buffers with voltage gain...

Good idea. The buffer/booster module from the FxBus series is set up to be able to be made into quite a number of buffers and boosters by simply selectively populating parts on exactly the same PCB.
