Bit of a newbie here and need some advice.

I'd like to build the Supro Thunderbolt for a bass player friend of mine and was hoping to stick it in a box with a cabinet sim.

So, a couple questions --
1- I believe that the fact the Supro has a 15" speaker was taken into consideration when designing the pedal, so is a cabinet/speaker simulator necessary if my friend wanted to plug into a DI box and go direct into a mixer for live stuff?

2- Has anybody had any luck  modifying a Condor Cab simulator to work with bass? I know there have been recommendations about how to do it in other threads, but I couldn't find anybody who had reported back saying they had done it.

Hi, that's my amp sim, so I guess I should chume in with a response :D
It's setup to reproduce the gain/tone of the original, when run into a "clean" bass amp
and sounds great on bass through a clean 2x12 guitar amp too !
You an adjust a Condor ( or something similar ) to sound like 15 inch speakers quite easily.
The Supro sim does have some extra roll off ( the 15k/3n9's at the back end ) but you may find the
top end loss too much and can reduce these to 3n3's or 2n2's to your liking. ( I ended up with 3n3's there )

I've used mine with my Condor setup as a 4X12 tone with great success, I would try this first and
see how you like it, the Condor is qute dark anyway, so this may well be fine without further adjustment.

Regards,

Marty.

I use a Flipster on bass (one great pedal!); I don't use a Condor when recording

Marty -- just what I needed to know. Thanks a million.

Bernarduur -- Just listened to the clip of the flipster. Nice. May have to add it to the (ever expanding) list.

I liked it more then the Supro, but I also added a lead-knob to get even more gain........

Great pedal!
