  Can I use a MAX1044 to supply +9v/-9V supply for a SCreverb ?
And...where can I actually get these chips?
I tried everything I could at SB a number of times, when I get near the Paypal page> I'm re-directed me to 'merchant'?...it seems like it used to be easy to process an order there...what's changed or what am I not doing...
I'd like to use Discover or Visa if possible.

I had the same kind of problem at SmallBear a while back.  Just e-mail Steve the order and he'll take care of you! ;)

drawing more than 10mA from the 1044 chip will break it, driving springs will almost have to draw more than that.  There are some more robust ones out there, but the IC charge pumps don't get beefy, apparently.

   :o
Thanks for bringing that up Processaurus ! I can find applications for the MAX's.

,,PErhaps one max per side...one for V+ and one for V_ ...
I'm not good at calculating, especially since I don't know what the current draw of the Stage Center Reverb is...
I just kind of figured 'two Maxs supplying  might power it.

How many, and what kind of opamps,Pete?

Other than I can use the chips to 18v some stuff I wanted to try that on..
The SCReverb'll get approached in some other fashion...
  !Thanks Eric H.

Using this schematic to get almost 18V, how do I decide what capacitor values?

10uf, listed right under the schematic.

Daft...dummy can't even read !! Thanks for pointing that out Fretwire.

I've powered a Mutron III from a Max 1044 - worked but acted kinda "wierd" !
It powers my Trace Elliot dual chorus fine and I'm sure that draws more than 30ma ! ??
I thought that the rating on a Max 1044 was more like 40ma ..... no ?

Perhaps can these be used in series to up the Ma rating?

.... what about "piggybacking" 2 x chips !!  ??  ( 4558 "style" :D )

All are nice ideas, of course we know how a nice effort can pan out sometimes. :icon_eek:.
Perhaps piggybacking won't work because of the clocking...
I thought of Getting +9v with one chip, -9v with the other, but it appears even this isn't enough for the MAX technologies ability to supply current needed for the driver coil.
I think I'll use a couple caps, couple Diodes and a chip on a little perfpiece, see what comes out [17v hopefully], maybe hook that up to a Tycho or Splitter blend where I have two battery clips.

A better alternative to MAX1044 but with higher voltage and current possibilities is ICL7660S. The letter S is important because the chips with this letter allow to connect pin 1 to pin 8 to remove the annoying whining. Also it's half the price of MAX1044.

I've been using these (higher voltage and current than the Max chip, cheap, and you can tie the pins to remove whine):

For whatever reason the link doesn't work...search for part number TC1044SCPA at Mouser.
