Hey guys,

I have the urge to build another fuzz but I want it to be the worst farty splatty fuzz I can find.  I have already built a good Fuzz Face variant which sounds really good so now I want one that sounds like a silverback goriila's bowel movement after eating taco bell.

Any recommendations?
  ;D
Thanks

The Shin-Ei/Kimbara Fuzz Tone FY-2 sounds pretty catastrophic. Maybe reducing the voltage would also help?

a misbiased silicon tonbender mk ii gets pretty nasty and has a cool growly texture in the low end...

I'll tell you exactly what you need, and that's Dragonfly's "Dirty Sanchez''. Absolutely repulsive!

I've heard that the Garage Fuzz is nasty and splatty. Also, check out Tim Escobedo's "Triple Fuzz".

I'll second the Tripple Fuzz. It will also do the straight fuzz sound also, when the spatty misbiased sound gets boring.

Hmmm? I never tried to set the Tripple Fuzz up like that, but then again, I only like the splatty gated tone in small doses, so the Dirty Sanchez fills that bill. I still need to modify the Sanchez, so I can either have the splat, or smooth it out, because it has a really unique tone to it that I would also like to have some sustain if I choose. I believe I have some mods for doing that, that dragonfly sent me once upon at time.

Thanks for the recomendations guys.  I think I'm gonna give the dirty sanchez a try.  I want somehting that I can kick in that will make people think my amp is gonna blow up at any minute.

I like tha idea of misbiasing the tonebender too.  I havn't built a tonebender yet so maybe I'll build one and put a pot to screw up the bias so I can change it when I want.

aron

Orange Sunshine fuzz. In the schematics section. It's a fuzz face variant, but mine sounds absolutely uh.... well you might like it.

by splatty, do you mean "spirit in the sky"-like and worse?

if so, i'll try one of those too

Dragonfly

...ahhh....the dirty sanchez....yep, its truly filthy :)

replacing r4 and r5 with 100k trim pots (or even regular pots) should help in dialing out some of the nastiness, and possibly increase sustain...

also, you might want to add a 10k resistor between r2 (100k pot) and ground...keep it from "shutting off" when the pot is dialed back....

and...this thing is LOUD !  like, "blow up your amp" loud...you could probably tame it "a bit" by using a 10k pot for the master volume pot (r6) instead of the 100k....just a thought....

anyway, have fun :D

I breadboarded a Shin-ei Companion Fuzz and absolutely hated it, if that's any help...

Yeah, good question.

I'd love build something that can get that "spirit in the sky" sound, even if it's a one-trick-pony.

I played that song at jams but without the splatty fuzz it sounds more like Ted Nugent at a Billy Graham revival.   :icon_lol:

I built the Multi-Face and put the bias control right on the outside of the box so I could dial in faux sitar drones and Morse code Atari farts.  I would suspect that any fuzz unit with a bias control would get you in the Irritable Bowel Syndrome ballpark.

If I succeed in my quest for the "irritable bowel" fuzz, will you etch me a box with a toilet on it?

Thanks for the suggestions guys.  I've got some switches on order from Aron so I'll have to decide on somehting soon and get to soldering.

I'll keep you posted.

Well I haven't built anything yet but I got some inspiration last night.  My freind gave me his Lovetone Cheese source to try out.  The source is a great OD but that cheese side is pretty out there.   Not quite splatty or farty but what a sonic frenzy.  I may be looking at just the cheese side of the pedal to see if I can disect it and reproduce it and add a little farty to it.

The Cheese part of that pedal, the Big Cheese, is available in schematics and is called the "Great Cheddar", a Fuzz I love
