Just thought this was pretty cool:

Check out the top right hand corner, it shows a circuit for multiplying the source voltage by about 4. Looks like its easily extendable too! One could perhaps use a single AA rechargeable battery to power an effect, using a multiply by 8-12 circuit, and a regulator?
