...will be a Sweet Fetzer,... a Fetzer Thing, heu... a Sweet Valve. Well, it doesn't need a name.

Instead of a Fat Boostered, I decided to build this circuit.

The input buffer will be the Fetzer Valve from runoffgroove, which will be followed by the second half of the Sweet Thing. I may change the Tone Control, but I'll see once the rest of the circuit "minus the Tone Control" is built. The reason of these changes is that I wanted a buffer at the output of the circuit, and a different Tone Control. I prefer a single Tone knob to Bass and Treble knobs. I also want an input buffer with less gain than the first part of the Sweet Thing (a Mini Booster), and more gain than just a follower as in the Fat Boostered.

I already began a stripboard layout to be able to do my tests. I will begin by building the Sweet Thing part of the circuit on a stripboard, and use the Fetzer Tester board I already have to select the best Fet for the gain that will sounds best with the rest of the circuit. Then I'll use the correct Fet and resistors for the more permanent Fetzer part of the circuit.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Can you do a PCB layout for it when it's finished??
Sounds like it could be interesting but, I'm still sorry to see you pull the plug on the FB.

Well...I didn't pull the plug completely. I like to build many projects at the same time. I'll build it too, just to compare the sounds. But I think it will be on a breadboard.

What made me look a bit for something similar but also different is the fact that the original design seems to need some changes for a better sound. Paul said he added a buffer at the end to the one he built, and it seems to need a change at the Bass control pot.

And there is no schematic for a newer improved version. So I wasn't sure of what I should build. But you said you built the original one, right?

And yes, I could do a PCB layout once it's finished, if it sounds good... I normally use Eagle for that, but I could try something else this time, as long as it can import a Netlist.

About the pcb layout, I just realised that it would be easy to use the Sweet Thing pcb layout from R.G., and adapt it to use the Fetzer Valve instead of the Mini-Booster for the input buffer.
