amp idea

hey guys,

It's been a while since i have built anything, (i hate to admit it, but lately i've been unhealthily distracted by world of warcraft, haha) so time to get back to something more productive.

A while back i built a 2 speaker cab and head, but never put in speakers or built an amp for it. So i've been kicking around the idea to build 2 separate lm3886 amps, one to power each speaker. I had a few concerns though that i wanted to ask your help on;

first off, is this a good idea?? or will i run into problems with 2 amps; ground loops, etc.?

will i need 2 power supplies, or can both amps be powered by the same ps? and if 2 ps' is the case, will i need 2 transformers, or connect both to the same transformer?

if this isn't a good idea, any recommendations of a better way to fill the cab? (please bear in mind that i'm not a novice, but by no means an expert, so something not too hard to build)

also, it seems like i saw a pretty good how-to for applying tolex to amps, but can't for the life of me remember where i saw it, maybe here? anyone know of any good sites to go to for that?

Thanks for any help,

Matt

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't have any problem making a stereo power amp, home stereos work just like that with one transformer and powersupply to what I've experienced and they seem to work fine  :icon_neutral: .

I saw a thread there last week with a link to a full "cab build" photo essay including fitting
Tolex and piping :D
