Fuzzrite build problem.

I built a Mosrite Fuzzrite based on the dragonfly layout, and it sounds pretty awesome.  But -- when I turn down the distortion knob or turn down the volume knob on my guitar, I get a squealing, particularly when I'm not playing.  I'm guessing this is an obvious problem, but I'm not sure what causes it, or what it's called/what the solution is.  Any thoughts?

transistor with too high a gain, maybe??  Check the resistors around the tranny to be sure the values are correct.  Really weird problem, man, lol.  Bad potentiometer or something not grounded might do that, too.

Possibly the transistor. . .  I used 2N5089s, which are higher, to my understanding, than 2N5088s.  I'll probably try that tomorrow if nobody comes up with anything else (kind of a pain, since the layout didn't have room for sockets, so I'm gonna hold off tonight).

The other thing I noticed is that the problem goes away if I ease off the volume on the pedal.  Is this in keeping with that?

From memory the Dragonfly layout shows incorrect value collector resistors.
Where it shows 10ks, sub 470ks for Qs 1&2.
Should get things going... check the schem!

Oh squealing... right, thats most likely occillation.
Short leads! Take care with your wire runs. ..move things about see if that helps.

Hi
In my messing with the fuzzrite, I've found that the high value collector resistors work (470k instead of 10k) better, BUT you'll need some old-fashioned, low hFE transistors.  I used 2N2222As (hFE=250), and they are totally wild.

Thanks guys!  Changing the 10Ks to 470Ks worked perfectly.  I didn't even end up having to swap out the resistors.  I would never have realized to have done that. . .  I guess it's a lesson to look at the schematic and not just the layout.  Thanks again.
