Hello,

I'm looking for a discrete, simple Tubescreamer-sounding circuit. I have an Arion Tubulator and the sound into my Green Ringer is great. I'd just like to replicate the Tubulator-Green-Ringer-chain without all the opamp stuff (and less parts ;D ).

I built an Electra Distortion sometimes but maybe there are other options.

Thanks.

Check out the search funtion, there are a number of threads about Discrete Op Amps.  Also look at the diode compression section.  Here is something you might find helpful.   :icon_cool:

Thanks, but I'm not looking for discrete opamps, just for a circuit that is simple but sounds similar.

never built one but its described as a Tube screamer alternative

My guess is you'll end up with more parts if your trying to replicate a TS using only discreet devices.  Try the Runoff grooove Tube reamer or tube reamer v2.  It uses an opamp but it has a small parts count and is very easy.  It sounds good too.

I saw a schematic for one once.
It was an opamp internal schematic built on a board using transistors...something like 32 components for 1 x OA...
The Tube Screamer [everything except the OpampS], IIRC was part of the same board as the 'enlarged' version of the discrete opamps.
So I guess it was just a matter of incorporating the opamp [internals] schematics into the board with TS circuit 'tacked on'.
...Then trying it, maybe having to watch the layout...probably 3 or 4x the size of a 'TS'....guessing of course...
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.  Might check this out too.   :icon_cool:

This sounds kinda like a TS9 when using a high-gain transistor (like the 2N5089):

Thanks, that looks easy enough ;D

I am wondering about "A Touch Of Sweetness" from Jay Doyle.

I should check it. This one is still boxed, because I remember I liked it in my SRV years.

are there any soundclips for the Easy Drive somewhere, this one looks so simple, i'm curious to ear it!
