So here's my second build. It works very well and this is one sweet tremolo, very musical and usable. You don't get choppy sounds with this one (at least not with the components values I used). I used ROG's version, notably because I thought the pulsing LED was kind of cool. It is. So I've got a green led showing the rate, and an amber one for bypass/engaged.
I added a jack socket to plug in an expression pedal. Thanks to Brian from ROG for his help in this regard.
I learned a few things with this second build (the first one was a boost).
First I finally bought a unibit, which I hope will save me a lot of time.
Second, I've learned to take car of my soldering iron tip.
Thirdly: it is a good idea to tin the end of your stranded wire before soldering it to outboard components.
Fourthly: Stranded wire is tougher than solid core wire.
Fifthly: keep the components leads and the wires as short as possible. This unit doesn't seem to pick any hum (I've still got to try the the DC supply though)
Sixthly: I know how to add an expression pedal to bypass a pot now  :icon_mrgreen:

plus other things I can't think of right now.

PIX!!

If you look carefully you'll notice the leftmost pot is slightly lower than the others... my tribute to Stradivarius (read "I messed up my drilling here")

Also I put some foam at the bottom of the box since this board had no holes to stick the plastic thingies into (that enable you to fix the board to the box - can't remember the name). this way the copper side does'nt touch the box. Don't know if it makes a difference, but I feel better about it!
Oh yeah, I left the box raw because I made this one for a friend and he'll do the finish...

Hey,
That looks good!
I personally like the EA Trem alot.
Currently I am building the Tremulus Lune to give it a shot.

dacaumodo

Tremulus Lune looks like a cool one too. I'll probably build a second ea trem for myself though.

Go for it.
I built two of the EA  ;)

Great circuit!! My second successful build thanks to some help from one of the ROG guys walking me through my newbie debugging.... this really is a wonderful sounding  vintage trem.

Stranded AND solidcore wire can both screw you over.  With stranded wire, when the solder wicks too far up in the wire it gets brittle and snaps off.  With solidcore wire, if you nick it at all while stripping it, it is going to snap right there.  I prefer how easily stranded wire packs into a box.

Another forumite turned me onto this great technique to prevent off board wires from breaking.
It works 110% so I have taken up the cause to point it out whenever it gets mentioned as a problem.

Drill extra holes near the pads for the off board wires and loop the lead through it before
soldering to the pad. Your off board wire will NEVER break again.

It's time to buy a gun. That's what I've been thinking.
Maybe I can afford one, if I do a little less drinking. - Fred Eaglesmith

Yes, this method works quite well when there's room.
I also butt the insulation of the wire right up against the PCB and solder which seems to give a bit more strength to it.
The extra hole pushtone is talking about truly is ideal though!
