whe only chemical solution is to find solvent that will strip only yellow paint. If paint is not on the same base like powder coat you'll make it. for that you need to know both paint types. Other way would be sanding with very fine paper...

I believe the yellow is silkscreened onto the powder coat. Maybe something like wd-40 or baby oil might loosen the lettering... I can't say for sure, never tried it. Powdercoat's pretty tough stuff though.

I'd like to try this on a black "Eleca" bassballs clone(obviously a relabled sovtek). Someday.

Or maybe a rubber eraser? or oil and eraser?

WD40 and oils won't loosen screen printed letters. Think of how long it takes to wear out a shirt that's screen printed, plus those letters are meant to be stepped on for years and years so I don't think they'd print them so they'd readily come off. They aren't like stickers...

Try This :
Cut the surface of the yellow with some fine wire wool ( 0001 )
Then use Isopropyl Alcohol or some nail varnish remover ( you do paint your nails black dont ya ! )
on a cotton bud and lift the yellow, bit by bit.
repeat both as required, this should do it and not cut into the base coat

I think this will be pretty difficult, if (as is possible) the ink is urethane and the coating is polyester. It's quite possible that the ink is more resistant than the coating!
Normally, one shotblasts the whole powder coat & ink off & starts again when there is a problem.

Use Acetone, it evaporates quickly.  If you are careful then you can rub off the yellow and leave the powder coat.  I used it to clean paint that splashed on my SUV and the clear coat held up without a problem.

The problem is we're not dealing with paint, we're dealing with a baked on ink, on top of a baked on enamel. Unless EH uses extremely cheap ink, scratching it will do just that, scratch it. :-\ I agree with Paul, sandblast it and start over.

I'd certainly like to hear of any experimental results.
I've got quite a few boxes I'd like to 'unscreen'..... here's another problem: because of the thickness of the screening, it isn't totally satisfactory to just respray the boxes either :icon_sad:

I threw my pedal in with a bag of other pedals on the way to band practice, and, HEY PRESTO!

no yelow paint!
Try a little tenderness.

Well guys
After trying a hand full of things around the house here is what worked. I have this stuff from " the real milk paint co" called citris solvent.  It is like a swiss army solvent. Add one parts solvent and one part elbow grease and bam not yellow paint. It took of some of the powder coat and it may have dulled the finish a bit not quite sure yet I am going to give it the naptha treatment when the paint is all off. Even if it is a bit dull it is not that bad its hard to tell unless you 2inches away.
Oh yeah, steel wool didnt work it quickly took off the powder coat and I was useing 000.

Goo Gone! Doh, why didn't I think of that! So citrus OIL does the trick... hehe
Thanks for posting your success. When I used to lurk in this forum a couple years ago it seemed no one would follow up and say if something worked or not. It's the guys who follow up who really contribute to progress!
