Aha, I saw the threads at HC but didn't think that there actually was a buy up of SAD's involved.

Well, for my part its just a question of getting me a build challenge as well as wanting to have an ADA flanger ever since hearing Adrian Belew (and hearing nice soundclips everywhere).
I know, he used the polychorus too, but I think the ADA really is key equipment.  Check out his instructional video.

Dirk, you posted a picture of an almost populated MN ADA flanger board, is that the Bill Bergman layout (rev3 I think)?
I haven't found a certain verification of that layout, the files says "This layout has not been tested successfully as of 6-24-02".
Can you verify it?
This must be the layout that Mike I has modded for SAD use, so a verification of the source would be nice.

Best!

Once again this my fully populated ADA Flanger on veroboard with Mike Irwin's mods.

That is as beautiful now as the first time it was posted, just amazing Stephen!
In a way this makes me even more certain that the right way for me is PCB :icon_wink:

...unless you are planning to do serious modding!

In that case I can tell you that I verified it sucessfully.  ;)
More stuff, less fear, less  hassle and less censoring? How 'bout it??. To discuss what YOU want to discuss instead of what others decide for you. It's possible...

But not at diystompboxes.com...... regrettably

...but when you think of all the boutique and non-boutique pedals that have relied on these, plus all the chips used up in repairing pedals, that doesn't leave a helluva lot for the rest of us.

Plus I bought a huge amount and ate them; as I am a robot and these are delicacies to us.
I love the smell of solder in the morning.

As strange as it may sound there's a russian pip to pin analog to SAD1024 and it's called 528??2 /528BR2/. Currently it can be found in bulk in Russia for as less as $4 USD.
Maybe our russian friends in the forum will be able to shed more light on this subject.

They seem to be available here :

the order process seems to involve putting together an order with all pertinent information, and getting a price quote by email.  How things proceed from there, I'm uncertain.   I'm slightly hesitant to order from overseas from sources I've never used before - I've had great luck with some foreign merchants, and less than great luck with others.  Of course, it's the same thing with sources here, it's just generally easier for me to get an idea of other people's luck with individual merchants.

One of the things that happened as well is the HC DIY department which got into a ADA flanger development thread approx  3+months ago.
My scattered brain is suddenly interested in the A/DA Flanger, but I can't find that thread to save my life.  Can someone point me to it?

it wasn`t in the DIY department, but in the main HCFX-forum.

(be sure to click the appropriate links in there...)

Did I misread something in that HC thread or did someone actually pay almost $1000 for a @#$%ing FLANGER?

Thanks Ton!  I read through both threads, but it didn't look like anything was built.  I was reminded about the Small Hoax, though, so it was worth plowing through it all.   :)
